Motorcyclist suffers catastrophic injuries in collision

| Jul 27, 2017 | Motorcycle Accidents |

In collisions between a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle, there is an extremely high chance that the motorcyclist and any passengers will suffer much more serious injuries than the driver and any passengers in the other vehicle. According to a recent report, just such a scenario occurred in nearby Hebron, Connecticut.

The report indicates that the collision occurred on July 16 during the afternoon. The motorcyclist, a 57-year-old man, was reportedly driving his motorcycle on Route 85 when a vehicle behind him slammed into his motorcycle as he was slowing down to make a turn. The motorcyclist was thrown from his vehicle, and suffered what was reported as life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle and the others in it were reportedly unharmed in the collision.

There were no immediate details on the extent of the injuries that the motorcyclist suffered in this car accident. He was reportedly transported to Hartford Hospital to receive medical treatment.

This motorcycle collision remains under investigation. One of the main details to determine will be why the other vehicle slammed into the motorcycle as it slowed down. Was the driver of the other vehicle distracted? Intoxicated? Or simply not paying attention to the road? In situations like this, if the investigation determines that the driver of the other vehicle was at fault for the collision, the injured motorcyclist may be able to pursue financial compensation through a personal injury lawsuit. Doing so could result in a financial award from the court that could cover the medical expenses, along with other monetary losses like lost wages.
