Motorcyclist seriously injured in Connecticut crash

During the warm months, motorists in Connecticut are used to traveling with motorcyclists on the roadways. While this is a common experience, this does not always mean that drivers are at ease traveling by such a small vehicle. If a driver fails to take in their surroundings and acknowledges that a motorcycle is traveling nearby or a motorist misjudges the speed and distance of an oncoming motorcyclist, this could mean a serious and even tragic motorcycle crash.

Following a recent motorcycle accident in Manchester, Connecticut Police are currently investigating the collision that involved a single motorcycle and a car traveling with four people. Based on preliminary reports, that crash took place during the evening hours near West Middle Turnpike and Wickham Park.

The 29-year-old male riding the motorcycle was seriously injured in the accident. He was transported to the hospital for medical treatment. He is currently in stable condition. Authorities noted that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old female, suffered minor injuries and was also transported to the hospital. The three passengers, all between the ages of 16 and 18, suffered injuries as well; however, only one was transported to a hospital for treatment. The other two refused any medical care at the scene of the accident.

As the investigation continues, police are looking for anyone that may have witnessed the crash or has any details regarding the incident. Currently, authorities have not determined the cause of the crash. Following investigation, police should be able to confirm the cause and even assign liability.

If a negligent driver is the cause of a motorcycle crash, he or she could be held accountable for the resulting injuries and damages. A motorcycle victim could file a personal injury claim, helping them recover compensation for medical bills, rehabilitation, lost wages and other related damages.
