Most Connecticut motorists have become frustrated with other drivers at one time or another. But, they know that responding to the illegal actions of another motorist can only make the situation worse and possibly lead to road rage. When drivers become involved in road rage, the incidents can potentially lead to fatal accidents. Recently, one Connecticut motorist was involved in an ugly road rage event that led to a violent encounter.
According to East Windsor authorities, a man was driving on Route 91 in Hartford in the late afternoon when a White Nissan Sentra approached him and tried to run him off the highway. The man decided to follow the Sentra in order to report the incident to the police. The car continued to drive on I-91 and got off in East Windsor.
The Sentra then pulled into a Shell gas station on Bridge Street. The victim also pulled into the gas station and got out of his vehicle and took a picture of the Sentra's license plate using his cell phone. Immediately afterwards, a woman emerged from the passenger side of the Sentra, ran towards the victim and stole his cell phone.
The driver of the Sentra also got out and threatened the victim with a knife. The driver and passenger then got back in the Sentra and drove away but not before the victim successfully retrieved his cell phone. East Windsor authorities are looking into the incident and have asked anyone who has knowledge of the event to contact them.
Police stated that while road rage events are fairly common, only a minority end up becoming violent. However, any Connecticut resident who has been injured due to a road rage incident may want to speak with a personal injury attorney to determine if they are entitled to compensation.
