A 58-year-old pedestrian was killed January 3 after a vehicle lost control and struck the man, his car and two other vehicles. According to reports, a 2010 Honda Civic lost control near Laning Street in Southington, crossed the yellow line and struck the victim. The victim was speaking to his wife who was in one of the vehicles that was struck.
The man was rushed to the Hartford Hospital, however, local police were later informed that the man was killed in the accident. The cause of the incident is still under investigation and police ask that anyone with information come forward.
Fatal accidents like this are far too common across Connecticut. While most of us make a concentrated effort to stay safe on the roads, especially in wintry weather, it takes only a momentary lapse in judgment for a driver's negligence to be deadly.
The irreparable damage caused by such an incident is nearly impossible to describe. A victim's loved ones are put through the gamut of emotions. Along with the loss, the family of the victim must also face practical considerations such as medical expenses, the loss of earnings and the existing damage caused to the survivors.
Local Hartford attorneys have helped families in these types of situations get over at least one hurdle. They can help investigate an accident and determine who was the liable party. From there, these experienced professionals will work tirelessly to ensure proper monetary awards are recovered to match any damages the family suffered. If you have been impacted by a fatal accident, it is critical you contact a local attorney to advise you of your rights.
