Commuters in the Hartford area ran into especially slow traffic Tuesday morning as several accidents caused lengthy delays. Car accidents on Interstate 91 northbound and Interstate 84 eastbound backed up traffic for miles. Meanwhile, a truck accident on Route 2 near Exit 8 caused the closure of the highway.
While the effects of the accidents on local commuters was obvious Tuesday morning, the cause and severity of the incidents was not. The Department of Transportation released information on the road closure, but no officials immediately detailed the events surrounding the accident or whether anyone involved was seriously injured.
Nevertheless, there were real people behind the steering wheels and in the passenger seats of the cars involved in the accidents. While most people affected by the crashes simply ran a few minutes behind, those directly involved must now endure the aftermath.
