A seventh grade student at Suffield Middle School was killed last week as he rode to school on his bike. According to media outlets in Hartford, the boy was struck by a truck in front of the school on Mountain Road around 2:45 in the afternoon. He was rushed to the hospital, but later died of his injuries. The school department sent parents a letter informing them of the fatal accident and detailing the support services, which will be made available for other students traumatized by the tragedy.
The section of the road where the collision occurred was closed after the incident as police and investigators scoured the scene. While many accidents have curious causes, speculating the cause of this crash seems relatively straight forward.
