Two motorcyclists were sent to the Hartford Hospital by helicopter after they collided with a car in Ellington. The victims of the motorcycle accident were a 73-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman, both from a nearby state.
According to reports, the couple’s motorcycle was traveling east on Route 140 when a Ford Focus pulled out in front of them near Burbank Road. The motorcycle struck the side of the Ford and slid onto its side.
Fortunately, the couple’s injuries were described by Connecticut State Police troopers as non-life threatening. The man driving the Focus, a 70-year-old Vernon man, was not injured in the crash.
While the victims’ injuries may not be life-threatening, that does not mean they won’t be life altering. Injuries from a motorcycle accident can be catastrophic. Even if the riders escape mortal injury, broken bones, head trauma or a neck injury can materially affect a person’s quality of life.
