Separate fatal motorcycle crashes claimed two lives last weekend in nearby Enfield and West Haven. The first deadly accident occurred on Brainard Road in Enfield. According to reports, a turning vehicle was struck by a motorcyclist. Police are still investigating the cause of the accident and have asked for witnesses with information about the crash to come forward. The motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second motorcycle accident occurred in West Haven. The motorcyclist killed in this accident was traveling on Main Street near Washington Avenue when he struck a vehicle pulling out of a private driveway. These fatalities were added to the list of motorcyclists injured or killed in accidents in and around the Hartford area.
While both incidents involved motorcyclists striking another vehicle, police had not determined who was the negligent party. Generally, authorities conclude that the vehicle entering another's rightful path is at fault. However, this determination is not as clear-cut when a motorcycle is involved.
Motorcyclists and their family members affected by a serious accident are encouraged to contact a local Hartford attorney for help through the post-accident process. These professionals understand the intricacies involved in accident investigation and reconstruction. They can advocate for the fault of the other driver and pursue damages for the injuries the rider or riders sustained.
Because of the possibility for serious head and neck injuries, victims are at risk for catastrophic financial consequences. Lost wages and large medical bills can debilitate victims of a motorcycle accident. Accordingly, it is critical that those affected secure proper representation to ensure that someone else's mistake does not cripple their financial well-being.
