A motorcyclist was seriously injured last Monday after colliding with an SUV. The motorcycle accident occurred in Litchfield around 6:30 p.m. just outside the Village Wine Cellar at 189 West Street, Route 202. According to police, the rider sustained serious and potentially life-threatening injuries. He was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment. News reports do not indicate who was at fault in the accident.
Litchfield, the summer resort town west of Hartford, may seem an unlikely place for a serious accident. but just because accidents may be less common in smaller towns does not mean that they are immune.
Accidents can happen anywhere. This is especially true for motorcyclists taking the highways out of town to enjoy everything Connecticut has to offer. When riders enter these sparsely populated areas, the chance of a vehicle forgetting to check for a motorcycle ride may actually go up.
Those injured in such accidents could benefit from contacting a local Hartford personal injury attorney to consult them on their rights. Motorcycle accident victims can recover monetary damages from a negligent party. This compensation can be vital if the injured victim is no longer able to work or has serious injuries that require expensive medical treatment.
Every motorcycle rider knows there are risks inherent in their pastime. They do not need a reminder that a single distracted driver can cause catastrophic injuries. But it is important for them to know and understand that experienced attorneys can help them secure compensation for the damages caused by another person’s negligence.
