A 63-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured in an accident early last week when his motorcycle was struck by a car driven by an 82-year-old woman. The man was taken by helicopter to the St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. The elderly woman was treated at the hospital and released.
The crash occurred on Route 44 just west of Stage Road in Coventry, directly east of Hartford. Police say that the motorcycle accident is still under investigation. The police did not immediately identify either driver or the extent of the man's injuries.
While the victim's condition was not entirely clear, motorcyclists, in general, are at a higher risk of serious injuries. These injuries can be debilitating to not only the victim but his or her family.
