Hartford porch collapse raises more premises liability concerns

Multiple news agencies reported on a porch collapse in Hartford late last week. According to the reports, three people were injured when part of the roof on a three-story house collapsed. Fortunately, the injuries were described as non-life threatening and minor.

Elderly Hartford Woman Critically Injured in Truck Accident

An 82 year-old woman is in critical condition after being run over by a delivery truck. According to Hartford Police, a delivery driver went over a curb near Newton Street, pinning the woman under the truck. The driver told a nearby store manager that an accident had occurred and fled the scene. Police arrived shortly thereafter to extricate the woman from underneath the vehicle.

Connecticut Supreme Court rules on premises liability case

The Metropolitan District Commission owns property in the Talcott Mountain Recreation Area in West Hartford. Part of that property is utilized as a biking trail. In 2002, the MDC was operating under a policy that required all gates on its property be shut. The policy was well-intentioned as it was in response to security concerns in the wake of the September 11th attacks.

Connecticut Man Critically Injured in Motorcycle Accident
