Fatal accident in Connecticut claims second victim

An auto-pedestrian accident in Connecticut is to blame for another fatality. A 51-year-old female was pronounced dead recently after an accident that occurred on February 11th. The accident occurred only two days after a record-breaking blizzard hit the Northeast. Reports indicate that the sidewalks were not cleared of snow, causing four family members to walk on the street.

One of the family members, a 53-year-old male, died shortly after the incident. Hospital personnel treated another victim for minor injuries and released her shortly thereafter. The fourth family member was unharmed. According to reports, the fatal accident happened on Bridgeport Avenue near Cowles Street in Milford, which is west of Hartford. Prosecutors have yet to file charges against the driver, but police are asking anyone with information on the accident to come forward.

In the wake of a major weather event, incidents like these can raise perplexing questions. For example, it can be difficult to ascertain which party was at fault in causing such an accident.

These types of issues can be contentious and can cause those involved to point the finger at someone else. People who find themselves in such a situation might consider filling a wrongful death suit against the driver and any other party that might have played a role in the loved one's death. Even if a victim of an accident was not technically compliant with a traffic or road rule, it does not mean that he or she was responsible for his or her own death.

Wrongful death civil claims seek to award compensation to family members of individuals who were killed as a result of the negligence or reckless actions of another. Family members considering filing wrongful death claims may want to seek assistance from a legal professional.
